About

To save the lives of pets whose parents are unable to financially provide more than the basic necessities of life.

Purpose

To promote the moral and ethical development of Canadian communities by helping animals in need of emergency medical assistance or care, by providing the needed financial assistance for veterinarian costs to pet owners who cannot absorb such costs due to economic hardship.

VETS Toronto is a 24/7/365 general practice and emergency clinic that has been in the same Beach location for 30 years still owned by the original Owner Dr. Samson and his clinic partner Dr. Mitelman who has been a partner for the past 10 years.

We see a huge number of cases of abandoned pets requiring medical care as well as pet parents that can't afford even the basic necessities of care for their pet kids.

A few notable cases just in the past year that VETS Toronto has assisted with the rescue, care and rehoming of:

  • Sweetie Pie an abandoned Cocker Spaniel with an abundance of health issues that social media embraced.

  • Samson, a 6 week old puppy that was found in a dumpster with his nose severed and most of his tail, as well as being deathly ill with parvovirus.

  • Milow, a spectacular Bengal cat that was shot by a high powered air rifle that came to us as his pet parents couldn't afford the necessary life saving surgery he required.

All, we're happy to say, have happy endings.

These cases as well as many others are sadly something we see each and every day and for the most part, the clinic has funded all the medical care required to save these lives. However, we simply can't keep up with the demand of financial assistance needed, so we have started VETS Animal Charity.

VETS Toronto has heavily discounted fees to care for pet kids coming through the VETS Animal Charity funding program. We hope to inspire and partner with other veterinarians across Canada that would like to offer the same services with discounted fees as well, to enable us to assist even more pets desperately in need.
